A lot of the inspiration for the planning of the McSpadden County Fair comes from our childhood nostalgia. One of our members grew up in the US and has fond memories of enjoying a unique kind of candy necklace at parades and events as a kid… so we decided to bring them to the 2023 Fair! The necklaces are constructed from wrapped bubblegum, tootsie roll and fruit chews tied together and each candy can be unwrapped and eaten on the move without taking the necklace apart – smart, tasty and stylish! Find them for sale at the Raffle Tent. Arrive early to avoid disappointment, as we have limited numbers – these things take a while to put together!

New to the McSpadden County Fair this year is Horsey Hop Racing! We will have inflatable ponies of all sizes so everyone can join in the fun. Get ready to race your friends, family and neighbours on the field!

The McSpadden County Fair is just two weeks away! Things are getting busy at Fair HQ as we put the final touches on this year’s schedule of entertainment, family fun, and local vendors, all culminating in the famous East Van Zucchini Races! Make sure to invite your neighbours to join the fun and keep an eye out for more posts as we count down to September 10th.

Time to get dirty!!! So, spring has been a bit….well… you know… but summer will come, we are sure of it. Get your free zucchini seeds at Figaro’s Garden, and start dreaming up a bountiful harvest, and a super fast racer!
7th Annual McSpadden County Fair, Sunday Sept 11

Thank you so much McSpadden County for a most memorable day. Thank you to our sponsors, our vendors, our entertainers, our volunteers, and our board. It was certainly our best year yet, and our buckets are still full to the brim with all of the joy and laughter of the event. We can’t wait to see you again next year at the races!!

It’s happening, it’s really happening (well….we think). Our vendors are confirmed, our food trucks are making their shopping lists, and our musicians are tuning their instruments for the best community event this decade! Did you hear that? We sure did! Dr Bonnie Henry actually said FAIRS AND FESTIVALS could be happening as early as September 7!!!! Oh Dr Henry, that is music to our ears. We are busily planning the 6th annual McSpadden County Fair for Sunday Sept 12 and it is set to be incredible this year. We have missed your faces so much, we can’t wait to cheer with you once more around the racetrack! So keep your fingers crossed, get your arm jabbed if you can, and stay tuned for more fair details as we create the best event East Van has seen since 2019!

With crossed fingers and toes we are beginning the spring with renewed hope for 2021. Are you ready to celebrate with your community again? Win bragging rights and a spotlight on our social media (some categories also win a ribbon). Since we can't all meet in person this year, rules and submission guidelines are pretty specific. The bad news is, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that the 5th annual McSpadden will be CANCELLED. Our community has really come together and shown their true colors during this difficult time, and we are incredibly proud to be part of it. The GOOD NEWS is that we will be revealing some pretty exciting alternatives to our on-site event!!! Stay tuned! Hint…keep growing those zucchinis and dreaming up your racer. This year, the sky is the limit.
