So there’s good news and bad news….
The bad news is, it is with heavy hearts that we announce that the 5th annual McSpadden will be CANCELLED. Our community has really come together and shown their true colors during this difficult time, and we are incredibly proud to be part of it. The GOOD NEWS is that we will be revealing some pretty exciting alternatives to our on-site event!!! Stay tuned! Hint…keep growing those zucchinis and dreaming up your racer. This year, the sky is the limit.

Seed Update 2.0
Due to a highly unusual rate of theft, we will no longer be supplying seeds in the free library boxes. We strongly believe that the punishment of harvesting 30 zucchini plants is sufficient, and carry no ill will toward the overly ambitious gardener. Seeds are now available 1 of 4 ways 1- From our new seed dispensary box, located on the garden fence of 1831 McSpadden Ave
2- Delivery to your home (within boundaries of 12th to Charles & Clarke to Namaimo) by one of our lovely board members.
3/4- Our community partners Figaro’s Garden and The Learnary will send you a bag when you order from their online stores. Ask for them when checking out your other fine items.
Please take only ONE bag, unless you are also collecting for neighbors.
Happy gardening! -
Seed Update
hello Community! Due to the ever-changing situation of our world right now, we have been trying to find ways to safely get you your free zucchini seeds. With all this extra time we all have, gardening is a great way to keep busy. We have placed plastic containers at 2 local free libraries as a trial. Please follow the directions carefully on the lid to ensure your own safety and to make sure the seeds stay nice and dry for the next person. If we find that the system works, we will spread out and place them in more little libraries in the neighbourhood. Currently they can be found at the Victoria and East 5th Library and the Lakewood and Charles Library. Additionally, Figaro’s Garden has graciously offered to include a package of our seeds with your online order (they have so much great stuff available). We are holding fast to the idea that the fair is going to go off without a hitch and be our best year yet. We can’t wait to come together as a community to celebrate.
If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Stay safe and find ways to stay connected. We would love to hear about your garden plans, racer ideas, or favorite recipes. ♥️ -
