Celebrating 10 Years of Zucchinis!
We can hardly believe that we have been have been coming together as a community for fun, friends, and zucchini-based frivolity for 10 years! To celebrate this milestone we have put together an extra special Merch item to salute our favourite vegetable! Introducing the McSpadden County Fair Zucchini Cookbook: From Track to Table This cookbook, lovingly created by our community members, features our favourite zucchini-based recipes, from sweet to savoury, to help you use up your garden surplus while showcasing the history of the East Van Zucchini Races! Books will be available for purchase from the Merch Booth at the Fair. Want a chance to WIN a FREE Cookbook? Head over to our Instagram or Facebook pages to enter! Other exciting items you can get at the Fair include fun new Zucchini Racer T-shirts in kids and adult sizes, stickers, patches, and the ever-popular candy necklaces! MCF 2024!
Our blog has been quiet lately, but do not fear, the McSpadden County Fair team have been busily working away behind the scenes! With a stellar line-up of local vendors, food trucks, entertainers, kids activities and information booths (not to mention the brand new, 4-lane zucchini race track!)… we are sure that 2024’s fair will be the best yet . The weather for Sunday looks perfect. We’ll see you (and your zucchini) in the park!

Best…fair…ever!
Last Sunday, something magical happened – the weather was sunny and bright with the occasional cloud, the air was not smokey, the volunteers were hard at work and happy, the grass was green, the vendors, booths and food trucks brought their awesomeness, the musicians played sweetly and the zucchinis rolled to destruction and glory on the track. The 2023 McSpadden County Fair was awesome. We are filled with warm fuzzy feelings for everyone who turned out on Sunday – your hard work, enthusiasm, kindness, creativity and sense of community helped make this the best…fair…ever. THANK YOU

Nostalgic necklaces
A lot of the inspiration for the planning of the McSpadden County Fair comes from our childhood nostalgia. One of our members grew up in the US and has fond memories of enjoying a unique kind of candy necklace at parades and events as a kid… so we decided to bring them to the 2023 Fair! The necklaces are constructed from wrapped bubblegum, tootsie roll and fruit chews tied together and each candy can be unwrapped and eaten on the move without taking the necklace apart – smart, tasty and stylish! Find them for sale at the Raffle Tent. Arrive early to avoid disappointment, as we have limited numbers – these things take a while to put together!

New to the McSpadden County Fair this year is Horsey Hop Racing! We will have inflatable ponies of all sizes so everyone can join in the fun. Get ready to race your friends, family and neighbours on the field!
